Diamonds under GIA diamond dock
GIA grades their diamond’s color by comparing a stone under a controlled lighting environment (GIA Diamond Dock) and visually comparing it to a set of Master Stones of established color value. The diamond is then compared against a set of ''master stones'', that are preset into its corresponding D-Z Color grades. This comparison methodology is used for all diamond color grading, by matching the diamond's saturation (intensity) and tone (lightness or darkness) to the closest master stone.

Some diamond labs uses a Diamond Colorimeter, which uses a full spectral analysis to determine a diamond's color grade. Some find that it provides a higher accuracy as it is able to show the Color diamond on a linear scale, which is helpful to determine if the diamond's Color sits on the upper or lower grade scale (eg. H+ or H-).
Diamond laboratories do not grade the hue color of a diamond. Hence, a diamond of the same color grade, may have a yellowish, brrownish, grayish, etc. hue color. In JANNPAUL, we only accept yellowish hue diamond as it is the brightess color and least obvious. This is only noticeable under white or flourescence light.
Generally, the more colorless, the more valuable and desirable your diamond is. As the Color scale does down to the lower grades, the more saturated (color intensity) and darker the tone a diamond will have.
